denn Sygic stoppt den wichtigen wie kostenpflichtigen Service "Real-Time Traffic" für das N900.

Erst im März 2010 brachte der Navigationssoftwarehersteller Sygic "Mobile Maps" für das N900 auf den Markt. Damit wurde eine wichtige Lücke geschlossen, da Nokia ein entsprechendes Programm für das N900 schuldig blieb.

Ende 2010 bot Sygic noch ein freies Kartenupdate für die Maemo-Gemeinde an. Ebenso wurde im November 2010 der kostenpflichtige Dienst "Real-Time Traffic" für das N900 aktiviert.

Doch bereits um Mai 2011 herum hat Sygic den Vertrieb und Support von "Mobile Maps" für das N900 komplett eingestellt. Mittlerweile finden sich nicht mal mehr alte Supporthinweise wie beantwortete User-Fragen oder Ähnliches auf der Sygic-Homepage. Auch nach einem Kunden-Login ist nichts zu finden.

Schlimmer noch: Wenn die "Real-Time Traffic"-Jahreslizenz ausläuft, besteht nun keine Möglichkeit mehr, diesen Dienst erneut zu buchen. Auch die vermeintlich trickreiche Idee, im Sygic-Shop beispielsweise den Umweg über eine Android-Lizenz zu wählen, führt ins Leere. "Real-Time Traffic" läßt sich auf dem N900 defintiv nicht mehr aktivieren. Da Sygic trotz allem die Infrastruktur dafür unterhält, ist diese Entscheidung nicht nachvollziehbar. Der Umgang von Sygic mit seinen N900-Kunden ist auch deshalb mehr als fraglich, weil viele die Software bis ins Jahr 2011 hinein erworben haben.

Nachfolgend dokumentiere ich den entsprechenden Email-Verkehr mit Sygic:

Mail vom 30. November 2011 an Sygic:

Sorry for using the Android support. I have a Sygic Mobile Maps License for my Nokia N900... On the 28. November 2011 my "Sygic Real-Time Traffic Germany" license has been ended. Therefore I tried to buy one for an Android Phone, hoping it will work on my N900... But till now, it do not work on my N900. Can you help me?

Thanks for your quick response. That is a very bad information, because your network for this service is still running for Maemo as well. Is there really no change, to get it for another year? Sygic on N900 was the mainreason for me, to buy this handy in summer 2010. Yours...

Hello again, please note that Maemo OS is no longer supported even by Nokia - Our navigation is still functional with this device but it is also not possible to purchase it anymore - there is a possibility that I refund your new order for Real-Time traffic. Und Sygic erhielt diese Reaktion noch am selben Tag:

For your information: Nokia still supports the N900. 14 Days ago, there was a new official firmware update! I think, you are wasting money, when you are stopping services like Real-Time Traffic for persons with a N900 Sygic Mobile Maps license. There is absolutely no need for. It would be nice, when Sygic would change this wrong decision. I have bought my lincense last year. And offering Real-Time Traffic to persons with a Sygic license shall not be a problem for you. If you will not activate the Real-Time License to my N900, please refund my order. I will inform my German MeeGo-Board about your decision. Yours ...

Und so reagierte Sygic am 02.12.2011:

Hello again, your order was refunded you can expect your money to arrive within few days. We are sorry for the inconvenience. In case of any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Best regards, ... Sygic Technical Support"

Es kann nun ebenso angenommen werden, dass es für das N900 niemals mehr neue Karten auf regulärem Weg geben wird.

Folgende Fragen schicke ich jetzt an die PR-Stelle von Sygic:

1. You started selling the program “Sygic Mobile Maps” for the N900 officially in March 2010. When exactly you have stopped selling “Sygic Mobile Maps” for the N900?

2. When exactly have you stopped the support of “Sygic Mobile Maps” for the N900?

3. When exactly have you stopped selling of the “Real-Time Traffic” function for the N900?

4. Why have you stopped selling “Sygic Mobile Maps” for the N900?

5. Why have you stopped to support “Sygic Mobile Maps” for licensed N900 users?

6. Why have you stopped selling the “Real-Time Traffic” function for the N900?

7. Do you know, that Nokia still supports the N900 and has released a firmware update in November 2011?

8. Sygic is from Slovakia. Slovakia is a part of the European Union. Focusing the EU law, there is a defects liability period about two years for every concern. This two years are not over. Why have you stopped to support licensed N900 user against the EU law?

9. You have sold “Sygic Mobile Maps” for the N900 with the announcement of free map updates. There has only been one in 2010. When you will offer the next map update for licensed N900 users of “Sygic Mobile Maps”

PS: Weiß jemand ob ich die Kartendaten vom Sygic Maemo auch für Android nehmen kann?
Weil dann würde ich mir nur die kleine 19 Euro App für Deutschland holen und die restlichen Kartendaten vom Nokia rüberkopieren.
Groß was sagen können die ja nicht da ich für beide bezahlt habe!

Sygic hat es nicht für notwendig gehalten, zu antworten.

Ich habe die auch gefragt, ob ich irgendwas, zumindest die Kartendaten, von meiner großen Europalizenz noch hernehmen kann. Darauf dann auch keine Antwort mehr.

Denn dann bräuchte ich für mein Android nämlich die Version für nur Deutschland kaufen für 20 Euro.

Hab geschrieben, das ich es mir dann nochmal vorstellen kann, Sygic auch auf dem Android zu benutzen, andernfalls werde ich wohl - dank Alternativen unter Android - auf Navigon umsteigen.

ich habe auf die frage ob ich meine maemo Lizenz auf mein android Telefon umschreiben kann zur Antwort bekommen das sei nicht möglich. man hat mir aber einen großzügigen 25% Rabatt für meine neue android Lizenz angeboten.
auf diverse Mails im Namen von, damals noch, meego.de hatte es niemand nötig zu antworten.

Ich habe übrigens folgendes im Internet nachgelesen:

Es gibt noch die Maemo-Version 8.24 von Sygic Mobile Maps und die soll man auch finden können (bei mir läuft noch die 8.12 und ich habe niemals einen Hinweis von Sygic bekommen, dass es Updates gibt).

Es gibt die Karten "Sygic Mobile Maps Europa TA-2011.03" (Stand August 2011), die auf dem N900 laufen sollen. Leider waren sie nie Bestandteil der von Sygic versprochen Karten-Updates.
