Das Fürstentum Andorra ist mit einer Fläche von 468 km² der größte der sechs europäischen Zwergstaaten. Andorra liegt in den östlichen Pyrenäen zwischen Spanien und Frankreich. Staatsoberhaupt sind der spanische Bischof von Urgell und der Präsident von Frankreich. Das Fürstentum hat 85.015 Einwohner. Amtssprache ist Katalanisch, Hauptstadt ist Andorra la Vella. Gegründet wurde Andorra am 8. September 1278.

65 Berggipfel übersteigen die 2.000-Meter-Grenze. Die Grenze zu Frankreich hat eine Länge von 56,6 km, die zu Spanien 63,7 km. Andorra besteht aus sieben Pfarreien (Gemeinden). Einige Pfarreien werden noch weiter untergliedert in Viertel oder Nachbarschaften. Insgesamt gibt es in Andorra 44 Orte.

Nur eine Minderheit der Bevölkerung Andorras ist wahlberechtigt, da die meisten Einwohner nicht andorranische Staatsbürger sind. Frauen haben erst seit 1971 das Wahlrecht.

Das Fürstentum hat keinen Flughafen, und es gibt auch keinen Schienenverkehr.

Im Jahr 1934 erlangte der russische Adelige Boris Skossyrew die Macht in Andorra und ließ sich am 7. Juli vom Generalrat zum König Boris I. wählen. Seine Herrschaft dauerte jedoch nur bis zum 21. Juli, als er auf Intervention des Bischofs von Urgell verhaftet und des Landes verwiesen wurde.
